Dawn of Pantheon

The most exciting change to Grand Archive with the launch of Radiant Origins is the birth of a completely new multiplayer format, Pantheon. For a quick look, see our Introduction to Pantheon video that has been added to our YouTube page!

In brief, Pantheon is a multiplayer, singleton, free-for-all format where three to four players gather to enter the fray and fight to crown a single victor. Format conventions follow a 60-card main deck of unique cards (no more than one copy of each card), a 12-card Material Deck that follows the same conventions as Standard formats, and a new Pantheon zone which will house two new card types: Lesser Boons and Greater Boons. Each player will start the game with one of each boon in their Pantheon zone and can play the boons in the course of the game by Bestowing them, thereby gaining that boon. Unlike Standard games, every player, including the first turn player, will draw a card during their first turn, but only the last player in the first turn cycle may attack. To stave off early pressure, each player is granted a Pantheon Barrier, a siegeable domain token that effectively acts as a 6-damage shield to give players time to set up. The rest is up to you!his format also features Pantheon exclusive cards that can't be played in Standard formats, and will have its own ban list that is separate from other formats.

Grand Archive has always been driven by the community behind it. We are excited to see the friendships and connections people can foster through Pantheon as we continue to support the format in the time to come. Multiplayer Grand Archive has always been on our mind since the inception of the game, as many among us at Weebs have formed strong bonds and friendships through similar formats in other games we enjoy. For that reason, the game mechanics of Grand Archive have been built with the goal to support multiplayer since we began our journey on Kickstarter. We hope you enjoy playing Pantheon as much as we have.

Errata

Errata are used very sparingly in Grand Archive TCG, and should only be used to improve consistency in wording or correct errors made in templating. We are always improving our processes so that errata are less frequently necessary in the future. Below are the errata for Radiant Origins:

Note: This errata only affects the foil variant of this printing.

Errata: "...suppress another target ally, item..."

Former: "...suppress target ally, item..."

Angelic Channeling

Former: "For each card banished this way, Ashfletched Bowman gains ranged 3."

Ruling Notes

Onward to the Radiant Rulings!

The Rulebook has been updated to include all of the new terms and keywords:

Boons on Boons on Boons!
In the Pantheon, each champion needs boons and the favor of their gods to be the victor!

1.) Greater Boons and Lesser Boons are a mechanic exclusive to the Pantheon format. Each player sets one of each of a Greater Boon and a Lesser Boon face down in their Pantheon zone. Throughout the game, they may play boons by "bestowing" them in a process similar to activating a card.

2.) Bestowing a boon requires that the element of the player's champion match that of the boon they wish to bestow.

3.) A boon can be played by bestowing it. To bestow, a player pays the reserve cost in the top left, in addition to other costs, after which it enters the Effects Stack and awaits resolution. Once it finishes being bestowed, the player gains that boon. It remains in the Pantheon zone as a boon; it is not an object on the field that can be the target of activations, materializations, or abilities.

4.) Depending on its speed stat, boons may be activated at either Fast or Slow speed.

Locked Cards
Some cards could begin locked from play! Boons will initially feature these restrictions.

1.) Class Locked is a restriction ability that prevents the card from being played if your champion's class does not match the card's class.

2.) Level Locked N is similar in that it prevents playing the card, but will check your champion's base/written level to be at least N before you can play the card. Level modifications do not modify the written level on your champion and won't affect thresholds for Level Locked cards.

The Crowd's Favor
Can you earn the Crowd's Favor?

1.) Crowd's Favor is the first kind of Status being introduced into Grand Archive. Like masteries, you can gain and lose statuses, but you can have multiple statuses concurrently! The Crowd's Favor is the only status currently in the game and is exclusively created by Pantheon-specific cards.

D6 and Die Calculations
Victory sometimes requires a bit of a gamble...

1.) Radiant Origins introduces a new way to describe effect calculations using dice. Effects that specify D6 or a similarly formatted number require the player to roll a fair, 6-sided (or described N-sided) die during resolution of an effect..

2.) Any die-based results are only rolled and considered during the resolution of the effect.

Bulwark and Bulwark Counters
A tricky defense.

Some allies have Bulwark, which makes them enter the field with a bulwark counter. Each bulwark counter negates the next instance of combat damage.

1.) Bulwark counters act like a replacement effect, removing themselves and wholly preventing all of one instance of combat damage.

2.) You do not get to choose whether or not the bulwark counter gets removed; if combat damage were to hit the ally, the damage is prevented and a counter is removed.

3.) If damage is prevented by another effect or group of effects and no damage would be dealt, the bulwark counter will not be removed.

More Ways to Imbue!
More ways to Imbue!

Radiant Origins features two new ways cards may become imbued: Advanced Element Imbue and Element Imbue.

1.) Advanced Element Imbue requires the player to place the required number (N) of advanced element cards revealed while paying reserve costs.

2.) Element Imbue will describe specific elements and in a specified number (N) to set down revealed while paying reserve costs.

Angelic Channeling
1.) Angelic Channeling creates a delayed trigger that triggers the next time your champion levels up to base level 3 this game. This trigger is associated with the cards banished during the resolution of Angelic Channeling. Resolving Angelic Channeling multiple times involves tracking which card(s) were banished for each resolution.

Ardus, Floodborne Deacon
1.) If a new instance of a deluge effect targets, that effect must be present at the time it is added to the effects stack, as well as during resolution, for it to resolve properly.

2.) If an effect that requires a target is gained after that effect is added to the effects stack, that source would fizzle due to not having the mandatory targets for resolution. For example, if Liquidation was activated and Ardus was put onto the field at fast speed, Liquidation would now have two effects that each have a mandatory target. Because targets can no longer be assigned due to Liquidation already being activated, Liquidation fizzles.

3.) If an additional instance of a deluge effect is lost due to the removal of Ardus while its source is on the effects stack, the source of the effect can still resolve without the additional effect.

4.) For cards that gain deluge effects that target, it is important to assign which target is for the base effect and which target is for the gained effect. For example, if Liquidation's activation targets unit A with its base effect and unit B with its gained effect, the removal of Ardus before this activation's resolution would result in unit B no longer being targeted by Liquidation.

Elyan, Lustre Loyalty
Note: These recover rules also apply to Lightveil Agent

1.) Recovering while your champion has no damage counters on them still triggers "when you recover" abilities.

2.) Recovering 0 is not an act of recovering and won't trigger "when you recover" abilities.

Facet the Forgotten
1.) As you activate an attack card through Facet the Forgotten, you don't rest the designated attacker because that is also a cost that is ignored by activating it this way.

Flawless Spirit of Mordred
1.) Flawless Spirit of Mordred does not enable Mordred Bonus restricted abilities and effects.

Solomon, Master of Elements
1.) Solomon's ability allows you to ignore the elemental requirements of each card with the same name as the generated cards. This does not mean you can ignore the elemental requirements for other cards.

Warrior of the Fae Realm
1.) A later turn means any turn other than the same turn this ability resolved.
