Watchlist
Category 3
This category will contain all cards that are banned and restricted, proving to be too powerful or too impactful and limiting tournament deck diversity and meta health. Currently, Sword of Avarice, Reckless Conversion, and Crystal of Empowerment are banned. There are no changes to this category at this time.
Cards in Category 3
Category 2
This category contains cards that we consider very problematic and are heavily watched for potential future legality changes and category shifts. Erupting Rhapsody has been moved to Category 2.
Erupting Rhapsody has consistently been problematic in various competitive fields. In addition, Rhapsody has the potential to limit future design space for many Fire strategies in Grand Archive. After considering and watching the competitive scene for some time since the release of FTC, we have decided to bump up Rhapsody to Category 2 and will continue to monitor Rhapsody closely going into the MRC meta where we can reevaluate Rhapsody's efficacy in various Fire decks.
Cards in Category 2
Category 1
This category consists of cards that we don’t consider problematic in the current environment, but are unhealthy for future balance and game design space. This category currently has six cards with the addition of Chalice of Blood and removal of Erupting Rhapsody.
Chalice of Blood has been a very powerful regalia fairly ubiquitously in the competitive meta. In the early release of Grand Archive with a more limited card pool, recovery effects were more sparse, making it more difficult to reasonably profit off of Chalice of Blood's ability. However, with an increasing card pool and the emergence of more streamlined strategies incorporating Chalice of Blood, it is more clear that such designs might be problematic and harmful in future metas and design spaces. As a result, we are adding Chalice of Blood to Category 1 of the Watchlist.
