Time to descend into our latest set, .asphodel/paradise! This article will cover specific interactions and rulings for cards within the set as well as any errata we are applying during the release of the set!

All of the content in this article can be found on the Index. Our new set, .asphodel/paradise, will support drafting with 4 packs per player.

Check out the updated Index here:

Errata

Errata are generally used very sparingly in Grand Archive TCG, and should only be used to improve consistency in wording or correct errors made in templating. In some instances, rules changes may result in updated game terms and card syntax. We are always improving our processes so that errata are less frequently necessary in the future. Below are the errata for .asphodel/paradise:

Wielding
Formerly, we had adopted language that discussed when a weapon or other object would be used during combat. We are applying an errata to cards that use this wording to "wield," where a weapon can be wielded for combat and units can wield objects, respectively. Similarly, the unit wielding a weapon will be referenced as a wielder, etc. Existing cards will be updated on the Index and future designs will feature this updated rules text. There are ~50 total cards that will receive an errata (including any changes to reminder texts). These changes are not functional changes with respect to rules surrounding combat and how attacks are declared. Total Whiteout, releasing in this set, will receive a clarification to accompany its errata, discussed below.

Blightheart Penitent
Formerly: If you control an Elysian object, Cascade...

Errata: Activate this ability only if you control an Elysian object. Cascade...

Camil, Basked Abundance
Formerly: ...into your memory.

Errata: ...into their owner’s memory.

Ruling Notes

With new mechanics coming to the new set, let's dive into some of the main themes you might come across!

The Rulebook has been updated to include all of the new terms and keywords:

Keywords and Themes

Elysian Aura
One of key mechanics in .asphodel/paradise is Elysian Aura, a somewhat different version of Empower specific to Aenean spells.

1.) Elysian Aura is a static ability which means "As long as you control at least one object with this ability, Aenean Spell cards you own activate and resolve as if your champion has +2 level.".

2.) This effect will not stack additively for each object with Elysian Aura; only one Elysian Aura effect will be active regardless of how many objects with Elysian Aura that player controls.

3.) If control of all objects with Elysian Aura is lost during the resolution of an effect, the effect will still resolve as if the Elysian Aura is still present.

Aenean Progression
Only Aenean Repudiation features this keyword in this set.

1.) Aenean Progression will only start increasing the cost of Repudiation if the activation of Repudiation successfully resolved. If it is removed from the Effects Stack as a result of state-based checks due to negation of the card's activation, it will not increase the Progression.

Link Shield
Link Shield is a new type of Link mechanic that expands upon the previous Link keyword. A quick summary of the way Link Shield Works:

1.) Something with "Link Shield" enters the field linked to a target object. Just like other Link abilities, if the Link to the object is broken by either one leaving the field, the object with the Link ability is destroyed. 2.) Specific to Link Shield abilities, if the linked object would be destroyed for any reason (including sacrificing), all temporary damage will be removed from it and the Link Shield object is destroyed in its place. This can apply to cost payments, as well.

Multistrike
Multistrike is a new combat-oriented keyword that allows attackers to select multiple attack targets!

1.) Additional selected targets must all be legal for an attack declaration. 2.) Units with taunt must be chosen as attack targets first, if any units with taunt remain after the initial target. As long as all other taunt target conditions are satisfied, you may choose any other additional valid targets. 3.) For Pantheon, if an attacker has both Multistrike and Cleave, choosing an opponent for Cleave happens first. Then, you may declare any other legal attack targets. In a 1v1 match, Multistrike will effectively do nothing since all attackble objects belonging to the opponent are already selected as defenders during the Cleave selection; objects can't defend twice in the same combat.

Cascade
Cascade introduces a progressing modal ability. Cascade abilities can be either activated or triggered.

1.) Cascade counts how many times the ability has been activated or triggered for determining which effect will resolve. It does not consider how many successful resolutions of those abilities have ocurred. 2.) A copied cascade ability will only copy the same effect on the Effects Stack. It will not advance the Cascade count.
Static Counters
Static counters, the core mechanic of the new Arcane Warrior!

1.) Whenever an Arcane unit deals combat damage, their controller may remove up to one static counter from each object they control with a static counter on it. Each of those objects will deal an additional point of damage to the object that took combat damage. 2.) This ability will trigger for each instance of combat damage. E.g., an attacker with Multistrike that deals combat damage to two separate units will have this ability trigger twice.

Card Rulings

Aenean Repudiation
1.) The additional card that opponents need to discard can be from either their hand or memory.

Aenean Cryosalvo
1.) The source of the damage being dealt is each individual Fractal object.
Aenean Reclaim
1.) If your object with Elysian Aura is returned during Aenean Reclaim's resolution, it will still continue to grant the +2 levels as it resolves.
Dante, Hemomancer
1.) When Dante's ability triggers, it may only trigger once for that source, regardless how many instances of damage it deals or if those instances are dealt across multiple turns.
Demon's Bargain
1.) As the option of drawing two cards is an instruction, it may be chosen even if the opponent can't draw one or more of the cards during resolution.
Leran, Pastrol Hymns
1.) The cost reduction is calculated while Leran has already moved to the effects stack. This means that if you have an influence of five before you activate it, after you move it to the effects stack, you need to pay 6 less to pay for Leran's reserve cost.
Lorraine, Honed Operative
1.) Each card banished is individually checked if it's advanced element.
Fran, Carmine Spark
1.) The target player chooses which card from their graveyard to banish.
Peer The Depths
1.) If the banished card is not played by the end of that player's turn. It will remain banished, but cannot be played.
Total Whiteout
1.) Total Whiteout's 2nd ability does not prohibit awake objects from attacking. Total Whiteout is receiving an errata in the fashion of other cards that discuss objects used in combat to specify if an object is wielded.
