Things players need to know about the launch of ALC!
January 19th, 2024
With the launch of Alchemical Revolution on the horizon, this article will cover specific interactions and rulings for cards within the set as well as any errata to cards within ALC!
All of the content in this article will be found on the Index.
Errata are used very sparingly in Grand Archive TCG, and should only be used to improve consistency in wording or correct errors made in templating. That said, several cards in ALC slipped through our quality assurance process that require syntax errata (non-functional changes). We are always improving our processes so that errata are less frequently necessary in the future.
Assemble the Ancients

Ruling Notes
With ALC, there are three new classes and advanced elements, and tons of new and exciting mechanics to explore! Here are some of the interesting interactions that players might expect to come up during their experience in playing Alchemical Revolution! The rulebook has also received an update with the new terms and mechanics, as well as some minor restructuring for the ALC season of GA.
Foster
Foster is a keyword that enables units to become "fostered" if they survive until the recollection step unharmed. Some allies will have an "On Foster" ability that triggers whenever it does become fostered and can reward players for protecting those allies!
1.) Once an ally is fostered, it can't be fostered again.
2.) The Foster triggered ability will trigger even if that ally did not exist on the field for a full turn cycle.
Bullets
Bullets are a new type of item and, along with Guns, one of the first objects with a functional subtype. Bullets have a power stat, which items normally don't have. These can be loaded into a Gun, and the loaded Gun will put all its loaded cards into the attacker's intent during combat.
1.) While loaded into an object, if that object leaves the field, the bullet will be sent to the graveyard (or banishment if it's a regalia).
Starcalling
Starcalling is an exciting mechanic for Astra which involves being able to activate a card with Starcalling while it is being actively glimpsed from another effect! To understand how it works, here is a quick ruling:
1.) If you Starcall a card, that card is put onto the stack during the glimpse effect but can't be pending resolution until after the current effect (i.e. the glimpse) finishes resolving. For example, Scry the Skies may have you glimpse 4 and you Starcall a card. You would finish resolving Scry the Skies by putting the other viewed cards on the bottom of the deck in any order and drawing a card into your memory. Then the Starcalled card can be responded to or start resolving.
Arisanna, Astral Zenith
1.) When paying the Starcalling cost, modifications to that card's reserve cost are ignored. Other additional costs, such as sacrificing an ally or an object, are not ignored.
2.) You may choose to not use Arisanna's alternative starcalling cost when paying for a starcalling cost and save it for another card in that same turn.
Astarte, Celestial Dawn
1.) Astarte stops objects from entering the field under your opponent's control if they're not activated or materialized. Some examples include: "put onto the field," "summon tokens," and suppress/suppress-like effects.
2.) Astarte does not stop cards from entering a champion's lineage, because a new object is not entering the field.
Blastshot Pump
1.) Blastshot Pump's replacement effect causes the attacker to deal combat damage to an additional unit. Because this damage is also considered combat damage, it can trigger On Hit effects accordingly.
2.) The unit that is receiving damage from Blastshop Pump's replacement effect can't retaliate because damage would already have been dealt by starting the resolution of the damage step.
3.) The attacking player that controls Blastshot Pump will choose the additional unit for the replacement effect, if applicable.
4.) If damage is reduced before the replacement effect happens, the additional unit will take the reduced damage instead of the full damage amount.
Force Load
1.) When a weapon is used for an attack, all of its loaded cards are put into the attacker's intent. In the case of Force Load, it allows more than one Bullet card to be loaded at once and fired at the same time.
Freydis, Master Tacticion
1.) Freydis' activated ability affects all Ranger units you control, even those that enter the field under your control after this effect resolves.
Nico, Whiplash Allure
1.) If multiple cards with floating memory are banished from your graveyard at the same time, Nico's triggered ability triggers that many times.
Organize the Alliance
1.) An ally can become fostered even if it doesn't have the Foster keyword.
Relentless Hexchaser
1.) If Relentless Hexchaser's card element changes in the graveyard, non-umbra champions may be able to activate its ability. For example, if Nullifying Lantern changes this card's element to norm in the graveyard, and you control a norm element champion (usually by having at least one norm element champion card in lineage), then you may activate this card's ability.
Scale of Souls
1.) If the Balance condition is not met at the beginning of the controller's recollection phase, Scale of Souls won't trigger at all. This means there is no chance to fix the hand/memory to achieve Balance during the recollection phase.
2.) Scale of Soul's Balance condition is also checked during the resolution of its triggered effect, as well.
Study the Fables
1.) The target player chooses which cards to reveal from their material deck. If there are less than six cards in their material deck, all of those cards must be revealed.
Tonoris, Creation's Will
1.) Certain tokens are summoned with counters on them. If Tonoris' replacement effect makes those token weapons instead, it still gets those counters.
Tonoris, Genesis Aegis
1.) If this card leaves the champion's lineage (by means such as deleveling), the token summoning options are reset if this card re-enters the lineage.
